Abstract

Wounds have been a problem for a long time. Restoring tissue is a typical response to any kind of damage, but bacteria may slow down the healing of an exposed wound. Ayurveda, a branch of medicine, has several pearls that may be utilized to heal wounds without any problems. Our Āchāryās (teachers) put the medicines for Vrana Shōdhana (wound cleansing) and Vrana Rōpana (wound healing) into groups and gave a basic overview of the ideas behind wound care. A certain Ayurveda mixture contains cow ghee, rock salt, and six herbs with different healing powers. This research examined many Ayurvedic formulations referenced in the Bhāvaprakāsha (a classical literature) for their pharmacological and pharmacodynamic properties in the context of wound healing management.

The primary objective of this study is to analyze the impact of the substances in this mixture on wound healing. Data about wounds was obtained from Ayurvedic scriptures, modern literature, and previous research investigations (from both primary and secondary sources). Afterward, a review of the literature on those six plants was conducted. These chosen plants were also looked at for their Pancha Padārtha (five constituents of the herb) and pharmacological properties. The selected formula mostly included Kapha, Pitta, and Vāta Shamana (which soothe bodily humors), leading to the identification of Ayurvedic pharmacologic properties and actions (karmas) associated with wound healing. Consequently, the efficacy of the selected Ayurvedic formulation in facilitating wound healing may be proven.
