Abstract

Agile Manifesto started 15 years ago, and agile project management (APM) has become a cutting-edge method used mostly, but not just, in the software sector. APM is gradually infiltrating other fields. The goal of this study is to summarize and critically analyze the contributions of previous research and existing knowledge regarding the applicability of Agile Project Management (APM) beyond the software industry and its integration with traditional project management (TPM) practices, as well as to identify the potential challenges and advantages of APM in innovation and new product development processes. A systematic literature review (SLR) process was created to systematically find, evaluate, and combine the results of all relevant research in a clear fashion. The gaps highlighted in this systematic literature review (SLR) will inform suggestions for areas requiring more study and provide a framework for the strategic positioning of future research endeavors.
