Abstract

Leadership is crucial for the execution of innovation in business, healthcare, and related fields. However, there is a need for empirically proven organizational interventions to enhance integrated leadership and organizational development methods, hence facilitating the successful application of evidence-based practice (EBP). This research delineates the preliminary feasibility, acceptability, and perceived efficacy of the Leadership and Organizational Change for Implementation (LOCI) intervention. A transdisciplinary team of researchers and community stakeholders collaborated to develop and evaluate a leadership and organizational strategy aimed at fostering effective leadership for the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs). There were 12 mental health service team leaders and 100 of their staff members from three different organizations that help children and families with mental health issues in California, USA. Supervisors were randomly allocated to either the 6-month LOCI intervention or a two-session leadership webinar control condition offered by a reputable leadership training provider.

We used a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative surveys and qualitative data gathered via questionnaires and a focus group with LOCI trainees. Results: Quantitative and qualitative assessments substantiate the LOCI training and organizational strategy intervention concerning feasibility, acceptability, and perceived value, alongside its effects on leader and supervisee-rated outcomes. The LOCI leadership and organizational change for implementation intervention is a viable and acceptable approach that enhances staff-rated leadership for the adoption of evidence-based practices. Additional research is required to provide thorough examinations of the proximal and distal effects of LOCI on leadership behaviors, implementation leadership, organizational environment, and implementation results. The findings of this research indicate that LOCI may serve as an effective technique to assist businesses in planning for the adoption and maintenance of evidence-based practices (EBP).
