Abstract

For more than 5,000 years, herbs have been utilized to treat, and more than 85,000 plant species have been shown to have therapeutic characteristics. Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are two examples of traditional systems that have employed plant-based medicines for a long time to manage health in a whole way. At this time, almost 75% of the world's people are using herbal medicines. Even if it is hard to establish regulations and standards for contemporary healthcare that include botanical pharmaceuticals, they might help people with long-term illnesses, and more people want to use sustainable methods. Traditional medicine has important plant-based treatments, but it is in danger of losing them because they are being used too much. Ayurveda and TCM systems have similar ideas about health that concentrate on keeping the body in balance. Comparative investigations reveal both shared and distinctive methods of using plants, underscoring the need of preserving ethnobotanical knowledge. This protection is very important for keeping cultural heritage and biodiversity alive. Plants have been important in finding new drugs and are still used to make bioactive chemicals.

The growing demand for herbal medications is due to their low cost and possible long-term use. But studies on plants like ginseng show that strict quality control is necessary to make sure that herbal medicines work and are safe. In animal health, herbs are also utilized to deal with worries about synthetic medication residues and resistance. Plant-based medicine is still not widely accepted throughout the world, but scientific proof of beneficial therapies is helping to change that. There are many types of medicinal plants in developing nations that are very important for addressing the demands of the global pharmaceutical industry.
