Cost-Benefit Analysis of Collaborative Projects and Mandatory Telecommuting During COVID-19

Abstract
In our lives, COVID-19 has presented hitherto unheard-of difficulties. Many knowledge workers have switched from in-person to remote collaboration because many governments have permitted individuals to work from home. Situations when the government mandates working from home are not well covered in the already available literature on remote working. The affordance perspective is used in this research to examine the technical tools that knowledge workers utilize to accomplish their cooperative objectives as well as the unexpected and necessary barriers that COVID-19 has produced. The phrase "enforced work from home" was coined, and 29 knowledge workers were questioned about their experiences working remotely. By shedding light on how affordances were used during COVID-19 in place of collaboration, this work advances the affordance hypothesis. Since various technological affordances were taken into account and implemented in order to maintain "business as usual," these affordance modifications have both beneficial and bad effects on cooperation.
